BAVARIA NAUTITECH 47 POWER: LUXURY MOTOR YACHT ON TWO HULLS

(Vancouver, BC) — The concept and engineering phases have been completed, and now the development of the NAUTITECH 47 POWER is entering a new phase. In BAVARIA CATAMARANS’ shipyard in Rochefort, France, construction now begins on the catamaran, which is 14 metres long and travels at speeds of up 22 knots.

The clear lines and dynamic design reveal the powerful elegance of this catamaran. With a top speed of 22 knots, this catamaran doesn’t just have powerful acceleration, its cruising range of 1000 miles at a speed of nearly 9 knots is also testimony to its endurance. And whether on or below the deck, there is plenty of room for luxury and relaxation.

Sunsets on board are best enjoyed on the foredeck; that’s where one finds an inviting sofa and table with plenty of space for lounging.

The stern of the has multiple uses. The lifting platform between the hulls can be used as a Tenderlift or as a bathing paradise. It easily lifts a Williams Minijet 280 out of the water. In its central position, it links the two hulls to form a flat space which becomes a wonderful area for sunbathing right next to the water. When the platform is completely lowered into the water: voila – you have your own beach in the shallow water.

The day at sea is best spent on the generous flybridge. Enjoy the perfect view of as it gently swishes over the sea. With a bimini or a hardtop offering protection, the slipstream is there to be enjoyed and life can be lived to the full. A barbeque and a wet bar are also at the ready on the flybridge.

Meals are best served at the long dining table in the large cockpit with direct access to the saloon. At BAVARIA CATAMARANS, we call this tried and tested room layout the ‘OPEN concept’. With this clever layout, cockpit and saloon melt into one living space. The perfectly equipped pantry, the exclusive lounge area in the saloon and the generous cockpit all give the impression of a luxurious penthouse apartment.

Driving pleasure is provided by two Volvo Penta D4 motors each with 225 hp. The balance of power and efficiency are particularly impressive: travelling up to 22 knots. Take comfort in long-distance cruising of 1000 miles without stopping.

The NAUTITECH 47 POWER will be unveiled at European boat shows in early 2018.

BAVARIA OPEN 40 | VICTORIA BOAT SHOW

PLANNING ON GOING TO SIDNEY TO/FROM THE VICTORIA BOAT SHOW THIS WEEKEND (APRIL 28 – MAY 1)?

STOP BY AND SEE US ABOARD THE OPEN 40 AT OUR PORT SIDNEY MARINA DOCKS

A multi-award winning model. Both Cruising World and Sail magazines voted this model 2016 WINNER in their catamaran categories.

Speed and comfort are the two essential attributes that come to mind when describing catamaran sailing. Excellent sailing performance due to weight and displacement is complemented by a considerable gain in living space for the crew, as well as significantly steadier boat stability and easy handling. The result is reduced travel time, increased distance and sailing pleasure that offers more comfort and relaxation.

The NAUTITECH OPEN 40 is the ideal catamaran for travelling with family and friends. With the unique OPEN concept, the cockpit and the saloon of the NAUTITECH OPEN 40 flow into one shared living space, ideal for an unforgettable day at sea.

OPEN 40 | BOAT OF THE YEAR WINNER

SAIL magazine just announced the OPEN 40 as WINNER in the 31′ – 40′ Catamaran category for 2016. Read on for their announcement:

(ANNAPOLIS, MD) — Known for its monohulls, Bavaria recently acquired French catamaran builder Nautitech and entered the multihull market with the new Open 40, a boat that has been making some serious waves at the many boat shows where it appeared this year.

Naval architect Marc Lombard has created a high-freeboard design with narrow hulls and fixed keels. The reverse bows hint at good performance, and the hard chines running from bow to stern both help part the water to keep the decks dry and provide a bit of extra interior volume while permitting waterline beam to be kept narrow. At 17,000lb, the boat is fairly light, with solid glass below the waterline and a cored, infused laminate above.

With those narrow hulls, the Open 40 sails like a witch, more than holding her own upwind—not a favorite angle of sail for most cats. Bavaria has also changed up a few options recently and added engine controls at the helms on both sides, which makes docking on either port or starboard a breeze. The interior finish is somewhat dark, which contrasts well with the boat’s white paneling, and a small shelf was added between the galley and the settee to provide a dish and cup rack.

The real story behind this boat is suggested by her name: the “Open 40.” On most cats, the saloon and galley are spread over about two thirds of the available main deck space, leaving the cockpit with the remaining third. However, aboard the Bavaria Open, this ratio has been reversed, with the idea that the cockpit is the area where cruising crews spend most of their time, making this Bavaria indeed much more “open.” The flow is excellent from the interior, past the starboard-side dinette and all the way to the transoms. Protection from the sun and rain is provided by a hardtop that extends all the way aft and also serves as the anchor for the mainsheet traveler.

Visibility forward from the helms is excellent overall, and even reasonable to the opposing forward corner through the ports. Best of all, this boat is as fun to sail off the wind as it is on a beat, providing a good turn of speed even at lower wind speeds, and will not disappoint in either private ownership or on charter.

DOUBLE VISION

It’s another beautiful day in Vancouver and more specifically, Granville Island! In the boat yard this week are not 1 but 2 Bavaria Visions. A Vision 46 is in for her annual service and spiffy up (foreground). Also in the yard is a brand spanking new Vision 42 that we’ve just started commissioning.

Always the Bridesmaid, Never the Bride…until now

Dusseldorf, Germany —  Considered the “Oscars of water sports” the 12th annual running of the International European Yacht of the Year awards were presented in Dusseldorf at BOOT on January 17, 2015.

There are five categories in the competition. Judging and testing was carried out by 11 yachting magazines from 11 nations over a two week period.

The “Family Cruisers” division is a particularly tough class as there is stiff competition and voting is usually tight. In 2010, the Bavaria 46 Cruiser came in a close second. Bavaria tried again this year with the new BAVARIA 46 CRUISER and finally, success! The BAVARIA 46 CRUISER won in this year’s Family Cruisers category. The judging panel was impressed with improvement in both technical and conceptual terms. She was considered one of the most sophisticated boats in the class.

Offshore sailing in a Bavaria?

One of the most asked questions we get at boat shows is, “Can you take these boats offshore?”

People ask this question, not because they have intentions of actually going offshore, they just want the reassurance that “if” they did go, would the boat carry their crew safely from port to port. People think that if a boat can sail offshore, then it must be well built.

Since we started importing Bavaria Yachts into North America in 1997, we have been asked this question too many times to remember. The answer has always been, “Of course!” Bavaria has always built their boats to the stringent Lloyds Offshore standards in many cases overbuilding the boats. In fact, the “kevlar” bow shield was an addition to gain extra protection in the event of hitting floating objects at sea. The hand laminated hull has a double laminate along the center line….the list goes on.

Bavaria not only engineers and builds good boats, they build good boats for good value.

val·ue noun 1.the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.

We invite you to open all the hatches, lockers and floorboards: look into every nook and cranny. You’ll see for yourself that the quality of fit and finish and presentation is all there.

Back to “Can you take these boats offshore?” The answer is “Of course!” In fact, three brand new Bavarias have just completed their transit from Europe to Brazil for the upcoming Rio Boat Show this April. New Bavaria 37, 46 and 56 Cruisers just completed the lengthy crossing safely and just in time to get them cleaned and readied for the show.
